Usually at the beginning of the year I’m writing out goals but this year I decided on a different route. I’ll go ahead and keep the goals personal to myself and instead share with you what projects I plan to take on in 2020. After all, I’ll be sharing them with you along the way.
In no particular order …..
LAUNDRY ROOM
This is one that has been on my mind for a while, every time I walk into my laundry room my wheels start spinning. This is gonna be a big one. I’m ripping out cabinets, doing a DIY concrete countertop, painting floors! Yes this is most likely going to be a month long endeavor but I am so super excited. Below is what has been jumbling around in my mind for some time now ….
OFFICE
Since my shift in what I’m focusing on (from my invitation and party shop – to home decor and blogging) my office is confused. I want shift my office this year as well. I want to make it a warm cozy place to be inspired and get some design work done.
I’m thinking black shiplap, antique mirrors and maybe even concrete floors!?! Not sure where this project will fall in the year but its something I would like to do sooner rather than later.
MASTER BEDROOM
This room has been lack luster since we moved in four years ago. To be fair its been a temporary nursery to two kids in the last three years so it hasn’t fallen at the top of the priority list much.
I try to add stuff here and there and it just seems to get lost. Its a big room, all one color, all beige carpet. I have some fun ideas that I think will bring a little color, texture and cozy to it.
LAUNCH PADS
A while back I did “A Bowl Full of Lemons Home Organization Challenge” and one of the sections I did not complete was the “launch pads”. These are essentially your catch all places in your home. I have three – two closets and a desk area.
Not only will I be cleaning them out but I’ll be installing some sort of function and organization to them – and lets not forget, I’m going to make them cute as well!
LAKE HOUSE
This one is up in the air, it really all depends on how much time we spend out there. I have some ideas for really big projects – like replacing a floor and painting all the kitchen cabinets. To smaller ideas like some DIY furniture pieces. This will have to be a To Be Determined – But Would Like To Get Something Done
DIY’S
Now of course I will be doing plenty of DIY’s throughout the year. My hope is for 3-4 a month – depends what I am working on. A BHAG (Big Hairy Aggressive Goal) of mine is to one day write a DIY book. I’m still spinning the wheel of ideas in my head on how I want that to go, but in the meantime I have to start a catalog of DIYs.
JUST PAINT IT
I feel like I say this a lot about a lot of things. Someone will ask me what they could do with something and my usual response is to “just paint it”. It really is amazing what a coat of paint can do for something you perhaps – find in the trash???
I want to introduce this as a little segment – I’ll show you something that may look useless, old or ugly – I’ll just paint it – and we can all be amazed at the end result!
Wow, that felt good. To finally get out on paper (well digital paper) everything that has been swimming around in my head for some time now. I’m so excited to get to work on all these things and hopefully inspire you along the way!
