Since my Halloween garland is STILL hanging on my menu board and we are swiftly approaching February I thought I’d come up with a new little series. Each month I’m going to create a fun little DIY garland to put up there. Force me to take down the old and put up the new.
Since we are starting in February, what is more fitting than a Valentines Day garland?
We’ve made tassels on here a few times, both in Instagram Stories and in blog posts. Here is a quick step by step with pictures again to refresh your memory.
I went ahead and made them with three different color yarns – all are Yarn Bee from Hobby Lobby in Redwood (dark), Rose (medium pink) and Blush (light pink). I made three of each, but make as many or little as you need depending on the length of your garland.
Next I pulled out the Air Dry Clay I used for some Christmas Ornaments and made some little heart cut outs (be sure to make a little hole for the yarn to go through) . Here is Florida it is humid so I went ahead and put them in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes or so to dry out.
I assembled the garland – tassel, heart, tassel, heart and so on.
The best part about the air dry clay hearts is that you can add drops of essential oils to them and they act as a diffuser!
This garland would make a great little gift too! Or, you could make a condensed version into a little car / desk diffuser.
If you make a Valentine Garland … Tag me! I’d love to see!
