On to DIY Christmas Gift number five – an edible one! Now I wont take full credit for this one as it is a Martha Stewart recipe. I did however use cashew nut pieces instead of hazelnuts for the head of the tortoise – simply because I couldn’t find hazelnuts š
Ok so lets start with what you’ll need:
You can find Martha’s full recipe here.

Preheat the oven to 325. Start by placing the cashews in a way that makes two arms, two legs and a head. Unwrap a caramel, flatten a little with your fingers and lay on top of the cashews. Place in the oven for 6-8 minutes, just until the caramel starts to melt.

In a double boiler (or in the microwave in ten second increments) melt your chocolate morsels. Place a dollop of chocolate on top of the caramel and place a pecan half on top of that. Then ta-da! You have your tortoise!

I placed mine in a cute dollar tree tin, using layers of parchment paper in between the chocolates. Wrap with little bakers twine and a wooden Santa tag (also from the dollar store). Ready to gift to your neighbors, co-workers or teachers.
